Ivan Woods has over 25 years of experience across Asia, Europe and the Middle East in senior finance and banking roles. After a B.Sc. in Economics from Bristol University he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC) in London.
He then joined European Capital, a boutique corporate finance firm, where he was selected for a year’s secondment in Tokyo with Itochu Corporation, one of Japan’s leading trading houses (and at the time the world’s largest company by revenue).
In 2000 Ivan joined HSBC in Hong Kong, where he was a director in their investment banking group. He was subsequently recruited to establish the structured finance team for Woori Bank, then Korea’s largest financial institution, where he built a team of six taking senior lending and advisory roles in Asia and the Middle East.
Ivan Woods moved to Dubai in 2009 as a consultant to IFC (World Bank) where he led the team advising the Saudi government on its groundbreaking US$1.2 billion Madinah Airport redevelopment. He went on to join BDO’s Middle East corporate finance practice, working with developers and lenders across the Gulf.
Since escaping the institutional world Ivan has focused on working with startups and SMEs in outsourced CFO roles including around strategy, fundraising and corporate finance transactions.
He has been based in Singapore since 2015 and also manages the local office of Stepping Stone, a global SME accounting firm providing complementary services to the CFO Centre including company secretary, bookkeeping and accounting.
